Basumati Corporation Limited:

Formerly known as Basumati Sahitya Mandir, was established in the year 1887 by Late Upendra Nath Mukherjee. Since its early days, Basumati has published hundreds of books of abiding merit on diverse subjects in Bengali language. The treasure trove of the publications of ‘Basumati’, which is inseparable from the literary heritage of Bengali language, has still maintained its modern digital print edition. Role of ‘Basumati’ during freedom struggle of India and association of almost all the stalwarts of Bengal with Basumati deserves it to be regarded as a heritage institution. The major functions of Basumati Corporation Limited (BCL) at present are, printer and publisher of its cache of books on Indology, Religion, Literature etc. and Masik Basumati and job work printer for various Departments of the Government, including composing and printing of Paschimbanga and West Bengal. More than 200 years old heritage building of Basumati Corporation Limited has been repaired and renovated. Under the aegis of the present Government, Basumati is engaged in heritage preservation on one hand and earning revenue through high quality job-printing works on the other.
